Before entering films, Chaithra studied engineering at Ramaiah Institute of Technology in Bangalore and also interned at JNCASR. While still in college, she began acting through the Kannada web series Bengaluru Queens, directed by Anish Tejeshwar. She made her Kannada film debut with the action thriller Mahira in 2019, where she played the lead role of Adya. Early in her career, she also appeared in films such as Aa Drushya, Gilky, and Taledanda.
Chaithra’s breakthrough phase came with critically acclaimed performances in films like Toby alongside Raj B. Shetty and Sapta Sagaradaache Ello: Side B starring Rakshit Shetty and Rukmini Vasanth. Her performances in these films were widely appreciated for their emotional depth and realism. She further strengthened her reputation with the sci-fi psychological thriller Blink in 2024. For her role in Taledanda, Chaithra won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Kannada, marking an important milestone in her career.
Apart from acting, Chaithra is also a singer. One of her most recognized musical contributions is the folk song Sojugaada Sooju Mallige, featured in the acclaimed Kannada film Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana. Alongside films, she continues to explore music and diverse artistic projects. With multiple upcoming Kannada and Tamil films including Uttarakaanda, Strawberry, and Meesaya Murukku 2, Chaithra J Achar continues to establish herself as a versatile and respected talent in South Indian cinema.
