Summary
Saathvika Rao, formerly known as Shravya Rao, is a Kannada actress and model from Bengaluru who comes from a well-known film family. She is the daughter of veteran Kannada actress Rekha Das and filmmaker Om Prakash Rao, and is the granddaughter of actor and theatre personality N. S. Rao. Although she had the advantage of growing up around cinema, Saathvika has said that she wanted to establish herself through her own work and auditions rather than simply relying on her family background. She began her acting career in her early twenties, making her Kannada-film debut with Loosegalu in 2013.
She subsequently appeared in films including Rose (2014), where she played Amrutha opposite Ajay Rao, followed by Katte, Nanjundi Kalyana, Huccha 2 and Yada Yada Hi Dharmasya. She also expanded into Telugu cinema with Vanavillu and Natana. Her filmography reflects a mix of romantic dramas, comedies and other commercial Kannada productions. In Rose, her portrayal of Amrutha marked one of her early prominent lead performances, while Huccha 2 gave her an opportunity to work under the direction of her father.
In 2023, she adopted the screen name Saathvika Rao, moving away from the name Shravya Rao that she had used during the earlier part of her career. She explained that the name Saathvika was suggested to her by actor Sudeep during a meeting around the time of her film promotions, and she decided to use it. Around the same period, she returned to the Kannada screen with projects such as Mayanagari, in which she played the female lead. Interestingly, she also contributed creatively to the film by designing costumes for a song sequence after the director noticed her interest and ability in fashion and styling.
Saathvika has continued to build her career in Kannada cinema, with recent credits including Kanasondu Shuruvagide (2025) and the 2026 romantic drama Premi, alongside Advik Siddalingaiah. She is also associated with upcoming/recent Kannada projects including Megha Mounam and Moda Kavida Vaatavarana. Her journey has been shaped not only by acting but also by modelling, fashion and an effort to create an identity separate from her parents' established careers.
