Born on 18 July 1986 in Patna, Bihar, she is known for portraying both lead protagonists and strong antagonistic characters across family dramas, thrillers, and mythological series. Alongside acting, she is a professionally trained classical vocalist and was awarded a National Scholarship in Classical Music by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

Before beginning her acting career, Chhavi showcased her singing talent as a semi-finalist on India's Got Talent Season 1 in 2008. She made her screen debut with the Bhojpuri film Bidesia opposite Dinesh Lal Yadav before transitioning to Hindi television. Her breakthrough came in Ek Boond Ishq (2013), where she played Tara Singh Shekhawat, earning widespread recognition.
