Pratyusha Paul

Summary

Pratyusha Paul is a Bengali actress who built her early career in television and became particularly recognizable through prominent roles in Bengali serials. She began working in the industry at a young age, with Esho Maa Lakshmi becoming an important early milestone in her career. She was only 16 when she took on the central role of Goddess Lakshmi, while also preparing for her Class 10 board examinations. Her interest in mythology from childhood helped draw her toward the role.

Following Esho Maa Lakshmi, Paul continued to appear in major Bengali television productions. She played the lead role of Rai in the 2017 Zee Bangla drama Tobu Mone Rekho, alongside Farhan Imroze and Payel Dey. She subsequently became widely associated with Guriya Jekhane Guddu Sekhane, where she portrayed Rikhia Bose, also known as Guriya, in the Star Jalsha series. Her television work also includes Resham Jhapi and other Bengali productions, establishing her as a familiar face in Bengali entertainment.

Paul has also shown an interest in the creative and technical side of filmmaking rather than limiting herself to acting. In an interview, she spoke about her longstanding fascination with cameras and her desire to formally study cinematography and eventually explore filmmaking. During television shoots, she spent time learning about camera equipment and operations from cinematographers, including experimenting with focus pulling. This interest reflects a broader ambition to understand filmmaking from behind the camera as well as in front of it.

More recently, Paul returned to feature-film work with the Bengali comedy-thriller Khancha, released in February 2026, in which she appears alongside Mrinmoy Das, Rajatava Dutta and Mir Afsar Ali. The film was directed by Anirban Chakraborty and represents another stage in her transition between television and Bengali cinema.
