Naveen Shankar is an Indian actor and television presenter who primarily works in Kannada cinema. Born on May 25, 1988, in Ilkal, he has emerged as one of the most respected contemporary performers in Kannada films, especially known for intense and realistic roles. Naveen gained recognition for his versatility, grounded acting style, and ability to portray emotionally layered characters across crime dramas, thrillers, and socially driven films.

Before entering films, Naveen initially studied engineering but later dropped out and began working as a film journalist for a local news channel in 2009. In 2012, he joined the U2 Music channel as an anchor, while simultaneously developing a strong foundation in theatre. During this period, he performed in more than 45 stage plays and around 200 street theatre performances, experiences that helped shape his acting skills and screen presence.

Naveen made his feature film debut with Gultoo, directed by Janardhan Chikkanna, where he played the lead role of Alok. The cybercrime thriller received critical acclaim, and Naveen’s performance was widely praised for its realism and intensity. He later appeared in Dharani Mandala Madhyadolage as Aadhi, portraying an MMA boxer in a hyperlink-style crime drama. His performance earned him the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor – Kannada and significantly strengthened his reputation as a serious performer.

In 2023, Naveen had a breakthrough year with multiple notable films. He starred in Hondisi Bareyiri as Ranjit, receiving praise for his relatable and emotionally mature performance. He also portrayed the antagonist Bali in Gurudev Hoysala alongside Dhananjaya, earning appreciation for his powerful villainous role. The same year, he appeared in Kshetrapathi as Basavaraj Hadimani, a graduate fighting systemic injustice affecting farmers. Naveen also made his Telugu cinema debut with Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire directed by Prashanth Neel, where he played the character Pandith.
